Cumberland
Pencil Museum in Keswick The
Cumberland Pencil Museum in Keswick has long become an integral part of
the Keswick visitor trail and provides a facinating look into the history
of the humble pencil and how they are made. The museum includes displays
and videos of pencil manufacture dating from around 1500 AD in the Borrowdale
Valley. |

Senhouse
Roman Museum in Maryport The
Senhouse Roman Museum houses the largest collection of Roman military
altar stones and inscriptions from any site in Britain. The museum is
situated next to the Roman fort of Alauna - the former name for Maryport
- and much of the collection of artefacts comes from the family of John
Senhouse who started collecting around the 16th Century. The Senhouse
Musuem also provides information on nearby Roman archaeological
sites. |
